The Giant Marionette was originally created as part of the ‘Medium’ summer camp series, presented as part of The A.S.K (Art Space for Kids) summer holiday program across Beijing and Hangzhou.

It has since been presented at the Shanghai Oriental Arts Centre and at Tianqiao Theatre Beijing.

This Giant Marionette was created in response to children’s contributions during a workshop series. Children shared their dreams, fears and ideas on a large cloth and then this was assembled into a giant puppet to be controlled by the children. This was used in subsequent workshops, culminating in a performance lead by the children.

The Giant Marionette was then again presented as part of The International Conference on Theatre and Innovative Education, presented at the Shanghai Oriental Art Centre, with responses from delegates and speakers collected and turned into the giant puppet as part of theatre in motion and activation.
