QUIETUS

A non-verbal, participatory clown show that completely breaks the fourth wall.

Sorry the clown has one friend in the whole world: a piece of toast. He also has one problem: the piece of toast has just set off the smoke alarm. A simple problem turns into a journey of loss, blame, compassion and helping one-another. All the while, no words are spoken, and the audience is on stage.

QUIETUS is a completely non-verbal, participatory theatre show involving one clown, an incessant smoke alarm, and the audience. Through gentle and imploring facilitation, the performer wordlessly invites audience members onstage to help solve a problem we’ve all encountered before: how do you turn off the smoke alarm?

Originally conceived as a 10 minute work, currently seeking support to develop into a full length show.
